Dr Ajit Pathak Reelected PRSI National President

New Delhi, June 25, 2012.

Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) – the premier body of public relations practitioners in the country, announced its newly elected National Council to spearhead the organisation for the next two years. In its Annual General Meeting held in New Delhi, Dr Ajit Pathak, DGM (Corporate Communications), IndianOil Refineries HQs was reelected as the National President. The other office bearers include Ms Sumita Singh (IndianOil, New Delhi) who was elected the Secretary-General and Ms Nivedita Banerjee (MD-Ivy PR & Comm. Management) as the Secretary-Treasurer.

The National Council also announced four regional Vice-Presidents, namely Mr V P Sharma from Chandigarh as Vice-President (North), Ms M S Mazumdar from Guwahati as Vice-President (East), Mr Unmesh Dixit from Ahmedabad as Vice-President (West) and Mr Y Babji from Hyderabad as Vice- President (South).

PRSI is the national association of PR practitioners which was established in 1958 to promote the recognition of public relations as a profession. It has been working for more than five decades now to formulate and interpret the objectives and the potentialities of public relations as a strategic management function. Today it has more than 16 active chapters across the country with its membership largely drawn from private and public sector business organisations, government sector, consultants, advertising professionals and PR educationists. Over the years the Society has been using communication tools for change in order to build public opinion on various issues of national and social importance.
